While Beau pursued his second year of Bull Elk hunting in Crested Butte. Here’s his tale of the experience.

From Co-Founder Beau Larson:

“Engaging in outdoor recreation inevitably carries its own set of stereotypes, and hunting is no exception. It's a polarizing activity that navigates the realms of life and death, prompting moral contemplation at every turn. This November marked my annual Elk hunt in the Colorado forests—a brief excursion but the experience delivered a unique blend of challenges and emotions.

With the guidance of a more seasoned friend, I found myself close to a magnificent bull elk. So close, in fact, that I could  throw a rock and hit him. The tables turned as he discovered me before I spotted him, initiating a prolonged gaze that spanned seconds, minutes, an eternity. The underbrush shielded his vital areas. No shot. No moral shot, that is. This creature, finely attuned to avoid such predicaments, acknowledged the anomaly and swiftly retreated.

Naturally, disappointment settled in—not in the majestic being before me, but in my own perceived shortcomings. Yet, amid this sense of letdown, I remain grateful for the privilege of sharing a fleeting connection with such a remarkable animal. The impact of those few seconds will endure in my memory. Despite the inherent challenges, hunting, with all its complexities, has become an integral annual opportunity for me to forge a connection with nature that transcends the possibilities of other outdoor activities.”

As November ends and December begins, here's to new beginnings and continued growth. Wishing you a wonderful transition into the new month!
